Betty Jo Allen, 65 was taken home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2017, surrounded by loving family at her daughter’s home. She is preceded in death by her father Gilliam Curenton, mother Frances Hicks, son Andre “Tree” Curenton and brother David Dennis. She is survived by daughters Catherine Curenton, Carla Curenton-Zeno, and son Eulis “Punchy” Curenton, sisters Doris Bowers and Joyce Summers. Also left to mourn her loss are 27 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, many great nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends. Betty grew up in Weirton, West Virginia and attended Weirton schools. Upon completion of high school, she moved to Steubenville, Ohio, she later moved to Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of St. Mark AME Church, and sang in the Chancellor Choir. She was also a member of the Penn-Jones Lay Organization. Her greatest enjoyment was being a surrogate parent to other children. She enjoyed reading newspapers, puzzle books, and would frequently open her home to family and friends.
