Obituary for JASON TODD JACKSON

Jason T. Jackson, 47, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2019, surrounded by loved ones. Jason was born on May 31, 1971, to Chief James G. Jackson and the late Beverly Jackson. He was a 1989 graduate of West High School in Columbus. Shortly after graduating from high school, Jason joined the Columbus Fire Department where he served as a firefighter for two years.

Though Jason enjoyed being a firefighter, he found his true passion when he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a police officer with the Columbus Division of Police. Jason entered the police training academy in April 1994. In 1996, he became a Community Liaison Officer with the Strategic Response Bureau. Jason has served in many positions with CPD, but he was most known for his work as a liaison officer and his involvement with the CPD Explorers Program. Jason was well known and respected throughout the communities that he served. He was committed to recruiting and mentoring youth to become the next generation of police officers. Jason loved being a police officer and was dedicated to protecting and serving the Columbus community for 24 years.

Jason was a loving son, father, husband, and a loyal friend. He married the love of his life, Shayla Jackson, on January 3, 2015. In addition to his wife, Jason leaves behind to cherish his memory his four children, Joshua (Breana), Jadyn, Jordyn, and Jameson, his father, Chief James G. Jackson (Mary), his brother, James Jackson, Jr (Ramona), his sister Michelle (Otis) Smith, and host of nieces and nephews, close family members, and friends. Jason had an affinity for Star Wars, Invicta watches, action movies, riding his motorcycle, and the OSU Buckeyes. He loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. He was known for his quick wit, infectious smile, storytelling, and larger than life personality. Jason left a positive impact on those around him and his presence will be greatly missed.
