WILLIAM EDGAR  DORSEY
William Edgar Dorsey, “Bill” to family and friends, was born August 19, 1928 to Bolitho R Dorsey Sr and Ruth Male in Detroit, Michigan. Bill grew up in Columbus, Ohio after his family relocated during his early years. Bill is a graduate of East High School. After graduation he went on to join the United States Army. He proudly served his country for three years as part of the 1366th Engineer Dump Truck Company stationed in Hawaii. After being honorably discharged Bill returned home to Columbus, OH where he worked many jobs, often working two full-time jobs simultaneously. Two of his favorite jobs were working as a lighting director at both The Maramor and Scotts Inn and being a professional waiter. He retired from the Franklin County Auditor’s Office where he worked as a computer programmer. Bill was an ordained Reverend and devoted member of Praise Deliverance Ministries. He was a great Bible study teacher who often held classes in his home. He was always willing to explain whatever was needed for his students and class. Rev. Dorsey served as Assistant Pastor of Praise Deliverance Ministries for 25 years. In his later years Billy spent his time enjoying life his way. He enjoyed reading and had an extensive collection of books in his home. He participated in the YMCA’s Active Older Adults program with his brother Bo. However, his favorite activity was taking bus trips with friends to casinos throughout the country. Billy is preceded in death by his Father Bolitho R. Dorsey Sr.; Mother Ruth (Mayle) Washington; Brothers Bolitho R Dorsey Jr and John Washington. He is Survived by his son, Douglas (Carmen) Dorsey; daughter Shandra Bennett; Grandchildren Dominica (Jason) Alexander, Aija Penix, Dana Dorsey, Endeya Penix, Deanna Dorsey, and Jordan Penix; Great-Grandson Jason Alexander Jr; Sister-in-law Patricia Dorsey; Close Friend Deborah Latham-White and a host of other family and friends.
