Obituary for Becky L. Kourkounakis

Rebecca “Becky” Lee Kourkounakis was born July 25, 1951 in Wheeling, West Virginia. She was the oldest of four children born to Betty June Kourkounakis and George Kourkounakis. Becky graduated from Union Local High School in Morristown, Ohio. She was self-employed for many years as a child care provider through Title XX and Action For Children. Becky ran her business from her home and cared for many children over the years until she retired. In her spare time, Becky enjoyed reading, shopping, talking on the phone, and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook.
Becky knew the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior several years ago in her home as she sat in her favorite chair, while praying with her daughter Danitra. After her rigorous battle with congestive heart failure, on November 15 at the age of 64, Becky was called home to eternal, pain-free rest with the Lord. She is preceded in death by her father George Kourkounakis; maternal grandparents Hilma and Donald “Pap” Bethel and paternal grandparents Evangelia and Michael Kourkounakis. Becky leaves to cherish her memory her mother Betty Kourkounakis and loving daughters both of whom which she shared a special bond Deidre (Tyrone) Kourkounakis and Danitra (Wil) Butler; brother George (Betty) Kourkounakis, sisters Linda (Kenny) Hines, and April (Charles) Smith; grandchildren Robert Middlebrooks III and Davon Middlebrooks; great-grandchildren Anila Bowles, Jayden Middlebrooks, Jeremiah Middlebrooks, Janessa Middlebrooks, Nakiyah Ford and Leigha Middlebrooks. Service will be held Saturday November 21 at Cornerstone Pentecostal Church 2143 Joyce Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43219; viewing at 12p, service at 1p. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations can be made to the Cornerstone Pentecostal Church Youth House in Becky’s name.
