Obituary for TOMMY LEE BARNETT Sr.

TOMMY LEE BARNETT Sr.
TOMMY LEE BARNETT, SR. was born to Mrs. Lilley Patty Barnett and Mr. Willie Barnett on April 7, 1946, in Soso, Mississippi. He was the middle child of thirteen siblings. Tommy and siblings grew up on a farm in Soso. As a child, Tommy picked cotton to help support his family. Life was hard in Soso. away, suddenly, at the age of 72 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Odell, Eugene, and Ezell; sisters, Fannie May, Laqutise; stepson, Dewhite; and grandson, Anthony. In 1967, Tommy moved to Columbus, Ohio and started working for Concrete Construction. He worked over 20 years with this company. Later, Kokosing Construction Company bought out Concrete Construction. Tommy worked for Kokosing for 11 years before retiring in 2004. Tommy will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Barnett; his children and stepchildren, Tommy Jr., Sandra Lee, Tommy Jean, Anna W., Wayne; niece, Darcell; twins, Eddie and Ernest; siblings, Frank, Catherine, and Allie May; grandchildren, Big Renzo, Wayne, Shay, Khrystal, Kiana, and Khristina; a host of great grandchildren, other family members, and friends. Tommy was united in holy matrimony to Carolyn Taylor in July 1970. Tommy and Carolyn had one child together. However, both had children from previous relationships. Together, they made a beautiful family. Tommy loved his wife, Carolyn. They were inseparable; you never saw one without the other. Tommy was a loving husband and father. Moreover, he was an awesome grandfather and great grandfather. He could be a goofy friend as well as a wise soul. Tommy loved life and everything in it. He was a strict and stern man, but he had a beautiful heart. If you were sad, you left Tommy laughing. Fishing, going to White Castle, watching westerns, traveling, and gambling were some of Tommy’s hobbies. On Monday, February 5, 2018, Tommy L. Barnett, Sr., passed away, suddenly, at the age of 72 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Odell, Eugene, and Ezell; sisters, Fannie May, Laqutise; stepson, Dewhite; and grandson, Anthony.
